Chapter 1
About a millennium ago, a mighty city called Tertino was ruled by a fair king who treated all of his people with kindness and equality. He respected their opinions and gave them the jobs they desired, making the kingdom very efficient.
The blue people were good at growing crops. Their rich background in agriculture made them skilled farmers.
The red people were excellent builders. They oversaw the construction of houses for the citizens of Tertino.
The yellow people were very good at manipulating the human body. Their vast knowledge of herbs made them the perfect healers for the sick and wounded.
The green people were exceptionally strong. Their strength made them excellent hunters and soldiers. They were often tasked with providing both game and protection for the city of Tertino.
The diverse background and knowledge that Tertino’s citizens possessed made it the most economically stable kingdom at the time.
That is, until the rise of the king’s son, Grappa.
Chapter 2
On an uneventful day, the King died of a stroke. Grappa, being the next heir to the throne, took his father’s place. Grappa, however, had very different views than his father.
He was supportive of green supremacy, since he was of green origin himself. He despised all the other colored people because he believed that they were inferior to the greens.
His first decree as king was to exile every non-green citizen from Tertino. Soldiers went door to door, forcefully kicking non-green citizens out. Those who decided to stay were executed.
Jobs originally belonging to the red, yellow, and blue people were given to those of green descent.
Grappa was satisfied. He had successfully created a homogenous green city. His content with his accomplishment was short-lived, however, as the jobs were no longer fulfilled by qualified citizens.
Chapter 3
Later on that week, an earthquake struck the city of Tertino. About half of the city’s infrastructure was destroyed. Many were left without homes. The newly appointed builders had their hands full.
They had no knowledge of how to build a house. Their lack of knowledge left many without shelter. Temporary housing made of wood and grass quickly propped up across Tertino. While these houses were good at providing shelter from rain, they provided very little protection against the cold. But one could not light a fire, as the risk of burning the grass roof was very high.
The following month, the city of Tertino suffered a famine. The inexperienced green farmers caused crops to fail. The crop yield was miniscule due to the green’s lack of knowledge of farming techniques. They neglected to water the crops since they believed the Sun God would give all the food that the plants required. The soil became infertile due to the lack of moisture and it quickly eroded away. The city’s emergency food bank was depleting at an alarming rate, leaving many without a reliable food source.
The lack of food led many starved people to rely on an unhealthy food source. Many desperate Tertians relied on crows, rats, and insects to quench their growing hunger. While this satisfied their tummies' demands, it also negatively affected their health, causing many to contract deadly diseases that the new green doctors couldn’t cure.
Grappa was getting very nervous. Not too long ago, Tertino was a rich, prosperous city. Now it was a city ridden with diseases, with very high homeless rates and a food bank that was shrinking faster than a drop of water evaporating from a boiling pan.
