Chapter 1
The sun prided herself in being the brightest being in the sky. Her rays brought life to the small world beneath her. For this, she felt loved; and for a time, she was loved.
Then a babe was born with long hair, fluid like a river, and a smile that shined even brighter than the sun. This made the sun upset. She sent bad fortune to the family of the girl, taking away her mother and father. The sun thought the girl would die without proper care, but it seemed that fate had a way of playing around her games. The baby was found by a clan of tree nymphs, and they took her in as one of their own. They named her Alpha.
Chapter 2
Annoyed by her failure, the sun decided that if she couldn’t destroy the girl, then she would outdo her. So she shined brighter than ever before. The sun's radiance was so intense that people were no longer able to look up at her. Instead, the humans began to fear her power.
This made the sun even more agitated. Below her, the girl could be seen dancing in the villages. The people danced around her, orbiting her as if she was their sun.
Trying her best to shine even brighter still, the sun’s light reached the moon on the opposite side of the Earth. Having never experienced such a phenomenon, the moon awoke from a deep sleep. He was surprised to find a creature—who he'd later find out to be Alpha—staring back at him.
Chapter 3
Intrigued, he struck up a conversation. The girl told him stories of the land and the beauty of humanity while the moon taught her about ancient tongues and the beginning of time. Alpha made the moon smile. His dimples created the craters we see today. She made him laugh, causing the tides and currents to brush the shores of Earth.
So used to being alone, the moon quickly came to love Alpha's companionship. Watching this relationship form, the sun tried to stay behind the Earth, creating complete darkness for seven nights. But it was no use. The girl was intelligent. She knew that the moon was still in the sky and continued to talk to him every night.
